Versatrans® has been in business for 11 years. Francesco S. Viola, founder, owner and President of the corporation, started the company on February 13, 2000. The company offers custom transfers and transfer materials for the apparel decorating industry.
Francesco’s primary responsibility is strategic planning and marketing the business. He started a small company at Michigan State University in 1996 called Bella Designs at the beginning of his sophomore year at MSU printing shirts for fraternities, sororities, and student organizations out of his dorm room. The business started out small with an order here and there. Word of Francesco’s shirt printing traveled quickly all across campus. By the end of first semester, Francesco had orders coming in daily. It turned into a good business. Francesco graduated in spring of 1999 with the intention of going to Law School one year later in fall 2000. He decided to take a year off and moved in with his cousin along the Italian Rivera in Finale Ligure, Italy. He spent his time working as a bartender at a Disco Pub on the Mediterranean Sea. While he was there, a company from his hometown of Hartland, Michigan sent him an email asking if he would be interested in purchasing their screen printing transfer operation. Francesco got on his laptop, did some research, wrote a business plan and decided to cut his stay short in Italy to move back to Michigan to purchase the screen printing operation. Long story short, Francesco took over this small town business in 2000 and turned it into an international business that sells all across North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia.
